Innsbruck, Austria Travel Story (Lesson Learned)
In 1984 I was travelling, with a group of travel agents, on a familiar trip throuhout central europe. We were visiting 6 countries ,by tour bus, in 7 days. It was a busy and tiring schedule. I believe it was on the fifth night that we arrived in Innsbruck, at 8:00pm, and we had to be ready to attend a function at 9:00pm.
I grabbed a quick change and shower and rushed downstairs to catch the bus. The function was about 10 minutes, by bus, from the hotel. We had dinner and were being entertained by a Tyrollian band. It was getting late and I decided to walk back to the hotel. I figured I knew the way and set out to walk. This was a bad decioion as I became lost and ended up near the tracks. There were a few propositions, from ladies of the evening, and there were strange looking characters around. I was getting a little nervous, It semed like two or three hours had passed and I had no idea where the hotel was. I stood on the sidewalk and said a little prayer, This is true. I turned around and the hotel was across the street. Lesson learned. In a strange city, never walk alone at night and make sure you know where you are going. Yes, and don't forget to pray.

 Walking The Dog

A woman was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to
Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. The man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her seeing-eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight

He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, 'Kathy, we are in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?'

The blind lady said, 'No thanks, but maybe Buddy would like to stretch his legs.'

Picture this:

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a seeing-eye dog! (See pic below) The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

True story... Have a great day and remember...
...THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS AS THEY APPEAR

A DAY WITHOUT LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED!!!

Home to see family

This is a true story, however; the customer may have been pulling our leg (making a joke). A Chinese man came into the travel agency and said that he wanted to go back to China to visit his family. He hadn't been home for twenty years. The manager, of our agency, was arranging the reservation and in the conversation, she asked if he had any children. He said yes, he had 10 and took out a picture of his wife and family. They were young children so the manager said you've been away for twenty years so they must all be married by now, The man looked at her and was very serious when he said "no, that's a new pictute..I have many good friends back in China."

Air

Many people will be travelling by air this season to reach their holiday destinations. Here are some things you should know to help eliminate unnecessary delays when going through airport security and to help you have a safe trip.

Before you leave for the Airport:

  • Find out how many pieces of luggage you are allowed to take with you. Checked and carry-on baggage limits vary by airline and destination. It is a good idea to tag all your bags with your name and contact information before you get to the airport. Do not use your home address or business title.
  • Pack your own bags; never let someone else do it.
  • Liquids, gels and aerosols in containers with a capacity of 100 ml / 100 grams (3.4 oz.) or less are permitted through pre-board security screening as long as they fit comfortably in one (1) clear, closed and re-sealable plastic bag with a capacity of no more than 1 litre (1 quart). Please note that bags stretched beyond their capacity are not permitted. One bag per person. Learn more about security measures for liquids, gels and aerosols.
  • Passengers may bring aboard baby formula, baby food, milk and juice if a child aged two years and under is accompanying them. These items are exempt from the size restrictions and are not required to be placed in a plastic bag. However, passengers must declare all such items to screening authorities. These passengers may be subject to additional screening.
  • Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket, as well as insulin and other essential non-prescription medicines are permitted in carry-on baggage. To speed up the screening process, passengers should be prepared to present documentation supporting a medical condition, i.e. a doctor’s note. These items are exempt from the size restrictions and are not required to be placed in a plastic bag. However, passengers must declare all such items to screening authorities. These passengers may be subject to additional screening.
  • Some liquids and aerosols can pose risks to health, safety or the environment when transported and are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage. For more information, please refer to Transport Canada’s list of dangerous goods.
  • Ensure there are no sharp objects like scissors in your carry-on bag. Pack them in your checked luggage instead.
  • Make sure electronic devices such as cell phones, laptop computers and portable or electronic games are charged and ready to turn on for inspection, as you may be required to turn these devices on when going through airport security.
  • Make sure you have an appropriate piece of government-issued photo ID with you, such as a driver's licence for domestic travel or a passport for international travel. Keep your ID handy and accessible. You may be required to show it at the check-in counter and before boarding your flight.
  • Know how early you should arrive at the airport. Check with your airline, because check-in times may vary by airline and destination.
  • New security measures can cause delays for travellers. Be sure to arrive well before your departure time.

At the airport:

  • Do not joke about hijackings or bombings. It is against the law.
  • Do not accept parcels or letters from strangers for delivery to persons at your point of destination. Never carry anything onto a plane for anyone else.
  • Never leave your luggage unattended, and keep your eyes on your bags at all times.
  • If you see an unattended or suspicious bag or package, report it to airport security immediately.
  • Bear in mind that you may have to remove some items, such as shoes, when going through airport security.
  • Be aware that metal items may trigger metal detector alarms.
  • After you have gone through airport security, you and your possessions may be subject to random screening just prior to boarding the aircraft.

During the flight:

  • Pay close attention to the safety briefings at the beginning of the flight and know the location of all exits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
  • Be aware of which electronic devices are and are not allowed to be used during the flight. If you are unsure of the rules, consult a crew member.
  • Follow the instructions of the crew at all times and be respectful of them and the other passengers. It is illegal to behave in a threatening manner towards others on board the flight. Remember, everyone is entitled to travel in a safe and secure environment.
  • Inform the crew of any disruptive behaviour, follow their instructions and be courteous.
  • Drinking juice or water during your flight - instead of coffee or alcohol - will help keep you hydrated.
  • Try doing seated leg exercises throughout the flight to help prevent stiffness.

Sick and pregnant

Because of work commitments, at the travel agency where I was working, we were unable to go on our honeymoon. In fact, it was about two years later before we took our long awaited honeymoon to Bermuda.

My wife was 3 months pregnant but we had a real good vacation and thoroughly enjoyed Bermuda and the mopeds {motor bikes).

The flight home was going to be rough as we had three flight changes and the last flight was on an old propeller aircraft, that had to make 4 stops. Everything was going fine until we took off on the old propeller plane. My wife started to get a little stomach sick and then the plane dropped and she was really uncomfortable. So much so, she looked at me and said "I hope we crash" and she meant it.

Elderly Road Trip...
While on a day out for a drive, an older couple stopped at a restaurant for lunch.
After the meal, they continues their trip. They were about 20 miles down the road, when
the lady noticed that she had left her glasses at the restaurant.
Reluctantly, she told her husband and as she expected, he became very agitated.
They had to drive another 10 minutes before they could find an exit.
All the way back, the husband was grumbling, under his breath.
Every now and then he would make a scolding remark to his wife.
Finally they returned to the restaurant.
As she was leaving the car he says, "as long as you're
getting your glasses, you may as well get my coat and credit card."

Priceline is celebrating their 10th anniversary.
Priceline has BOTH Name Your Own Price Deals AND Great Everyday Low Published Prices!

no one deals like we do!

You are traveling by plane, train, or bus, so let's pack light. These are senior citizen travel suggestions for a one-week stay to most anywhere, for two.

If you have to take our shampoos, lotions, tooth paste, mouth wash, etc. either buy the small traveler sizes or, if small bottles avalaible, transfer liquids to these.

Pack only cotton underwear (3) and cotton socks (men 3 pr.- women one pr. panty-hose, one pr. knee-highs one pr. cotton socks), and roll these to save space (they can be placed into shoes). Note: you can wash these items while there.

Pack items of clothing to 'layer', i.e. one light-weight cotton knit cardigan to wear over two or three different cotton knit shirts or blouses (NO bulky sweaters).

No more than TWO pairs of shoes (one pr. comfortable walking and one pr. dress), the comfies will probably be worn in travel.

Two pairs slacks (we'll probably travel in a third) or skirts (if preferred). Choose items that can mix/match with everything packed.

Pack medicines, book/magazine, snack, flat slippers (in case the feet swell) and only other necessary items in the carry-on tote. If there is a necessity for dress clothes, pack these in the fold-up hanging bag, shoes can fit in these, also, along with odd/end items.

Don't carry on board anything but the tote and a jacket/coat (when necessary-but don't pack 'em); leave the 'handling' to others. If going to visit friends/family, and want to take gifts, box them and mail ahead of time; let the postal dept. help! Pack your needs, but pack them wisely! Happy traveling!
